Sometimes the Sweetest Thing Isn’t Cake — It’s Relief

When you’re out in the community as much as we are, you hear things.
Quiet conversations. Side comments. People trying to stay positive while carrying a lot more than they let on.
Lately, one concern has come up again and again — power bills.

What We’re Hearing From Families Right Now
Families are doing their best. They’re working. They’re budgeting. They’re making hard choices.
But between rising grocery costs, rent, insurance, and everyday expenses, power bills have become a breaking point for many households. We’ve heard it directly — from parents, caregivers, seniors, and families who never imagined they’d be worried about keeping the lights on.
These aren’t isolated stories. They’re happening all around us.
Why Power Isn’t a Luxury
Electricity isn’t extra.
It’s safety.
It’s stability.
It’s dignity.
Especially during the holidays, no family should be worried about sitting in the dark, choosing between heat and groceries, or stressing over a shutoff notice when they’re already stretched thin.
That reality has been weighing heavily on my heart.
Why We’re Stepping In
This week, I made the decision to cover $2,500 in power bills for families in our community who are struggling right now.
It’s not a solution to everything — but sometimes, relief, even temporarily, can make a real difference. It can give a family room to breathe, to regroup, and to get through the holiday season with a little less stress.
And sometimes, that matters more than anything else.
This Isn’t New for Us
Giving back has always been part of The Cake Girl’s story.
Every year, we support foster kids and homeless veterans during the holidays. Throughout the year, we show up through our Random Acts of Sweetness, quietly surprising people who could use a reminder that they’re seen and supported.
This effort is simply an extension of that same belief:show up where you can, when it matters.
A Gentle Invitation
If you or someone you know is struggling to keep the lights on this season, we want you to know that help is available.
We’ve created a private, respectful way to reach out — because asking for support should never come with embarrassment or judgment.

Being a Light in Our Community
Community isn’t built in big moments alone. It’s built in the quiet ones — when someone listens, steps in, and helps carry the weight for a moment.
And sometimes, the sweetest thing isn’t cake.
It’s relief.
