At The Cake Girl, we believe in celebrating the extraordinary in every bite—and every person. That’s why, on March 26, 2025, we teamed up with two incredible Tampa-based, minority-owned businesses—Tablas by Chef Taro and Miller Visions Transportation—to create Tampa’s first Military Spouses Night Out Experience. This wasn’t just an event; it was a groundbreaking, immersive celebration—the first ever for 21 military spouses from MacDill Air Force Base, the unsung heroes (92% of whom are women) who hold our communities together. As Women’s History Month wrapped up, we gave them a night of sweetness, creativity, and connection like they’d never had before.

The Vision: Honoring Resilience with Heart

I’m Kristina Lavallee, owner of The Cake Girl and proud Honorary Commander at MacDill AFB. I’ve seen the strength of military spouses up close—they balance so much, often in the shadows. Sure, they get together monthly, but they’d never had a night like this. I wanted to change that with an experience that would truly honor their resilience. I couldn’t do it alone, though. Chef Taro Larrea of Tablas by Chef Taro and Alfred Miller of Miller Visions Transportation jumped in, and together, we cooked up something unforgettable.
A Recipe for a One-of-a-Kind Evening

Imagine this: 21 military spouses stepping off a luxury ride from Miller Visions Transportation, arriving at 14851 N Dale Mabry Hwy like the stars they are. They were greeted with stunning custom aprons—branded with The Cake Girl logo in beautiful pink—thanks to my amazing friends at Chef Works, who stepped up to make every spouse feel like a pro. Then, Chef Taro’s Tablas brought the flavor with a curated spread as bold as the women we celebrated. The highlight? Cupcake decorating with me! We laughed, piped, and sprinkled, turning cupcakes into edible art. It was messy, magical, and totally immersive.

Why It Matters
This was more than a night out—it was a first. Military spouses are the heartbeat of our armed forces families—92% women, endless stories of grit. As a minority-owned business, The Cake Girl is proud to partner with Tablas by Chef Taro and Miller Visions to show what happens when we dream big together. We’re not just baking, cooking, or driving—we’re crafting experiences that leave a mark. This was their night to shine, and we made sure it was unlike anything they’d ever done before.
A Taste of Tampa’s Spirit

Tampa’s entrepreneurial spirit was on full display. Three minority-owned businesses brought our A-game: Alfred’s luxury transport, Taro’s culinary genius, and my sweet creations—topped off with those gorgeous pink aprons from Chef Works. It was a collaboration with heart, celebrating the military community that makes our city special. The joy on their faces? That’s what we’ll remember most.

Sweet Thanks
To Chef Taro, Alfred Miller, and my friends at Chef Works—thank you for going above and beyond. To MacDill AFB and the 21 military spouses who joined us—you’re our inspiration, and we hope you felt the love (and took home some cupcakes!). To Tampa—get ready. This is just the start of how The Cake Girl plans to spread more sweetness.
Got a story of resilience or an idea for our next big night? Let us know—we’re all ears!
With sugar and spice,
Kristina Lavallee "The Cake Girl"
